Ezequiel Barco – Uncertainty on joining the Argentina Squad.

Atlanta United President Darren Eales on Tuesday said that the MLS team doesn’t yet know if Ezequiel Barco will play for Argentina’s U-23 team this summer.

Barco has missed Atlanta United’s past four games because of a “lower body” issue. He appeared to sustain a hamstring injury in the team’s game against New England on May 1.

Barco, an attacking midfielder who has scored two goals for Atlanta United across all competitions this season, was named to the Argentina’s U23 team on Monday for friendlies against Denmark on June 8 and Saudi Arabia on June 11. It is not a FIFA-mandated event so the club doesn’t have to release Barco.

“We will have a chat and see how he’s progressing,” Eales said. “It will depend upon his fitness. If he’s not fit he can’t go anyway.”

Barco’s myriad injury history includes sustaining a knee injury while training with Argentina’s U20 team in January 2019. The injury resulted in him missing several weeks of Atlanta United training. It, however, didn’t cause him to miss any games.

Eales said the team has received no offers to buy any of its players, including Barco, nor has it made any offers to sign any players. The team, reportedly on Monday, made a $14 million bid for a Brazilian player.

Eales said the team may look this summer to sign a player to replace striker Lisandro Lopez, whose contract was mutually terminated following the death of his father in Argentina. Eales said the decision to end the contract was the right thing for the player. Lopez occupied a Supplemental spot on the team’s roster, which doesn’t count against the team’s cap but does come with a salary ceiling. Lopez also occupied an International slot, which is now free. The team can’t move a player from a Senior slot into a Supplemental slot.

“We will look in the summer to be as flexible as we can,” Eales said.

‘Rony’ – Ronielson da Silva Barbosa

There is some slight controversy in this claim.. Atlanta currently have 3 designated players in Alan Franco, Josef Martinez and Ezequiel Barco. This obviously is a hurdle straight out of the blocks. How could Atlanta process this deal as it breaches MLS rules. The financial cost of $15million wouldn’t be an issue necessarily. As far as a striker to replace the unforeseen circumstances of Lisandro Lopez, we are in need, however with Aiden Mcfadden doing bits for the 2’s and Machop Chols preseason form we have options other than Cubo.

The market for Palmeiras – in relation to the United States – is a chess game more than heavy. For this campaign, Verdão wanted to strengthen their arsenal after having won the Copa Libertadores and as goals they had focused on MLS elements such as Eduard Atuesta and Taty Castellanos. However, they ended up renewing their teams and now it is the Brazilian club that could lose one of their own at the hands of the North Americans.

In recent weeks, the board of the albiverdes has moved their finances to seek the renewal of striker Rony until 2025. What they did not know is that this should include a large sum of money to grow in their annual salary and the carioca, together With his representative, he rejected the first offer presented and not only because he demanded more, but also because the offer from Atlanta United appeared on the South American table. Gabriel Heinze’s Five Stripes had to agree with Lisandro López to leave the club due to the death of his father and that ended up leaving the team with a recovering Josef Martínez and Cubo Torres as the referents in attack. Therefore, according to reports from R7’s Cosme Rímoli, the Americans would have offered a sum of 15 million dollars to obtain the letter from the also former member of Athletico Paranaense.

The same report indicates that on the part of Rony there is discontent to stay because his compatriot, Dudu, would be returning in July after failing to reach an agreement with Al Duhail. The contract of the first is agreed until December 2024, but it is still expected that in the next few weeks Palmeiras can beat the juicy offer that would be for his forward to transfer to Atlanta. Who would win in Rony’s trade? In the last five seasons, Rony has scored a total of 30 goals in all competitions, having better production in Palmeiras with 17 goals. At first, Atlanta United would win from that point, but the player would also have his good part in the offer of the Americans, since more than two million would be for him. For whom everything would be chaos is for the Brazilians who would lose one of their main men and also would not receive the rest of the 15 million, since Paranaense still has 35 percent of the player’s card.

Aiden Mcfadden

Atlanta United 2 have stumbled on a gift from the gods this year. Our late draft pick Aiden Mcfadden is in fine form and is not looking like slowing down. 2 goals against FC Tulsa followed by another brace against Memphis901.

Josefs late strike sends the 5 Stripes Wild

A highly contested fixture, sealed by a share of the points. Seattle welcomed Atlanta, both opting for an attackive 3-4-3 formation, alot of heavy pressing from Atlanta and a solid performance from Sosa again at the back, Josef was the stand out star for Atlanta going close on numerous occasions against the league leaders. From the off it went end to end eventually leading to Ruidiazs glorious headed opener early on. Despite Atlanta being 1 goal down throughout the majority of the game, they showed their dominance. With 63% of the overall possession, 230 more passes and they got their goal…..

…in the form of a beautifully struck penalty from none other than Josef Martinez.

Seattle Sounder vs Atlanta United

May 23rd 2021

Looking at the starting 11 I’m expecting Sosa to drop back inbetwren Walkes and Robinson, allowing Lennon and Bello to push up as wing backs. Ibarra and hyndman will fill the gaps inbetween the two wing backs, allowing Josef to play centre and flanked by Erik Lopez and Marcelino Moreno.

Off to battle the Sounders

Gabriel Heinze and co have travelled to Seattle to take on the currently undefeated head of the Western Conference. Seattle have so far from 6 outings secured 5 victories and 1 draw, scoring 13 goals and conceding just 2. It will be a challenge for Atlanta to overcome today, however we overcome CF Montreal who were sat at top prior to their defeat by the 5 stripes.

Atlanta have secured alot of new signings following the start of Heinzes reign. The key to success is discipline and teamwork, this however comes with time. You cannot expect a team to gel immediately, however the strength is there and we can see the ability shining through. Vamos Atlanta!!
